Advent Candles
The Advent wreath is the traditional centerpiece of the Christmas season. A candle is lit on each of the four Sundays preceding Christmas. Three candles are purple or blue and one is rose or pink. The first candle represents hope. The second candle peace. The pink candle, generally lit on the third Sunday of Advent, represents joy. The fourth candle signifies love. Some Advent wreaths include a fifth white candle signifying “Christ” which is lit at Christmas.
